History of Agra Fort:
Agra Fort has witnessed many stories and wars and it has been the residential fort to many rulers. Starting from Ibrahim Lodi, the fort before the Mughal dynasty belonged to Ibrahim Lodi and later Baber defeated Lodi and captured the fort.
He made some changes in the appearance of the fort and the major change was a modification of fort like a structure of the stepwell actually modified by Babar.
Later, after the death of Babar, the fort was captured by Sher Shah Suri from Humayun and later it was owned by Hemu Vikramaditya. After the death of Humayun, his son Akbar, fought a war against Hemu and finally defeated him and then took over the fort and this time was the final time when fort finally came back to the Mughal dynasty. The entire changes and look of Agra Fort, which we can see today, are done by Akbar and late Shah Jahan modified some beauty. After Shah Jahan, his son Aurangzeb and Maratha ruler had warred against each other and finally, the fort was captured by the East India Company as their base and after independence, the fort became the heritage property of Indian Government.
